Tips for Essence Festival
Essence Music Festival is usually referred to as “party with a purpose” is one of the world’s largest annual events packed with music, culture, empowerment and entertainment.

What to pack?
When packing think simple, summer, light and less. Pack your patience. Millions of people visiting NOLA during this time; lines will and can get long be ready to wait. Pack the following:
- Comfortable shoes,
- Items that are Afrocentric print
- African prints outfit or accents
- Simple Maxi dress for dressing up or down
- ALL White clothing –it is guarantee to be an all-white party. Check Eventbrite several week before departure
- Travel Medical kit (I never leave home without one)
- Cross Body bag
- Extra empty bag for “FREE” product collection
Things to Do
- Stop by the Welcome Center on Decatur or Canal St
- Visit the Convention Center – Get there early to avoid crowds
- Go to at least one of the concerts (if not all 3)
- Shop, Explore and Tour during the day
- Shop at the outlets at Riverwalk, The French Market, Uptown on Magazine Street, Boutique Shops on Royal St or Pop-Up Shops
- Explore local culture, museum, or historical sites
- Hang out at Frenchmen Street – this is where the mature crowd party migrate!

- Check out Essence site for any festival updates
- Download Essence Fest app to register for conferences and expos
- Download Eventbrite app to check for any parties, pop-up shops
- Check social media platforms using the festival hashtag
